About
Training
I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher. I have been teaching group fitness since 2015 and coaching clients of all kinds since 2020. People come to me for all kinds of reasons- to improve bone density, gain strength after an injury, or crosstrain for a sport that they love to do. My approach for any client I work with is holistic and just as unique as each individual. Expect whatever we do to be building towards something while being held accountable and adapting as we need to your busy life. My goal as a trainer to meet you right where you’re at and help you progress. My clients range from their 20’s to their late 70’s, some are prenatal, postnatal, and athletes. My style is collaborative, supportive, and creative.
Yoga
I hold a 200 Hour Certification from Awakened Heart Embodied Mind, a Trauma-informed training with Hala Khouri (Off the Mat), Julian Walker, and Jay Fields.
This training emphasized alignment, safe sequencing, using props to make yoga more accessible, and neuroscience. It gave me a foundation to offer safe and sustainable yoga guidance. I also have a Yoga Fit Certification from One Down Dog, which covers Yoga with HIIT cardio, Sculpt, and Pilates.
I have a Yoga for Back Care Certification from Niki Saccareccia, Yoga Nidra from Sam Bianchini, and Yoga Sequencing training from Jason Crandall.
Teaching
I teach all levels, including beginners looking to learn basics and safe alignment to advanced practitioners seeking to build strength and skills for specific poses. I have been teaching around Los Angeles since 2015 at studios, at events like birthdays and bachelorette parties, with private clients in their homes, and with corporate clients at their offices.
My teaching style is described as steady, mindful, creative, fresh and fun. My approach to teaching is about catering the practice to the student. I break things down to pass on basic skills and build it out from there. I want you to understand the movements in your body so that you can have an embodied yoga practice that is truly yours!
Beginnings
I have been practicing yoga since I was in highschool. It was offered as an elective, so I thought I would try it out. I already grew up as a dancer and movement felt very natural for me. What I found was a connection to myself that I didn’t even know existed. I was moving for ME. Not for a show. I continued to practice in college, where I received a BA in Theatre, and it was a big part of our movement training. I was hooked. Not only because of how strong it made me feel, but because of the meditative aspect and the calm I felt after a practice.
Strength training became essential for me once I hit my 30’s and started to realize I was losing muscle mass, and the body I wanted wasn’t going to come from just yoga, dance, or cardio alone. Once I started lifitng and found how supportive my body felt from it, I was hooked. I decided to go deeper and learn as much as I could about muscle growth and got my certified from National Academy of Science Medicine, while also pursuing education from amazing trainers that I respect.
Practice is the thing. It’s the reason that we do it, not for outcome. This is something I live and I feel very passionate about sharing. I grew up in the Detroit Suburbs to hippie parents. They encouraged health and wellness holistically and I guess it makes a lot of sense that I continued this on into the rest of my life!
